A penetration test, also known as external audit, is
a live test of the external Internet defences of a company.
Network Security Associates experts
use specialised tools and techniques to determine how
secure a companies Internet facing connections, servers
and services are, and will report back to the customer
weaknesses found and recommended fixes. As new vulnerabilities
are found daily in operating systems and applications,
NSA experts keep up to date on the latest weaknesses
and exploits, to ensure any penetration test will determine
weaknesses before they are exploited by a hacker.
An external audit by NSA will provide an objective
and reliable assessment of the level of Internet protection
provided by a corporate infrastructure, enabling management
and IT staff to provide the protection their company
requires. The service is offered in two forms, overt
and covert:
Overt Tests
An overt test is where the penetration test team
and the customer employees co-operate fully in the
test. The penetration test team will learn the full
environment, and will formulate tests accordingly.
This ensures that all possible routes of entry into
the company systems are identified and tested.
